Materials:Wood, Metal and Chemical crystal
I have presented a mechanical installation 'Conduit of Loss' - a series of crystal making machines, the mechanisms finely tuned to rotate and immerse crystals into chambers of solution gradually growing over time. The piece is serious and contemplative, yet with a light touch. The fragility of the pieces are suggestive of a certain vulnerability, a dysfunctionality, a loss. The futility of the machine becomes a metaphor for cycles of life’s processes and throws focus on the passing of time.
